How to Keep Kids Entertained During After-Christmas Break: 5 Crafty Activities and an Alternative Solution

As the holiday season comes to an end, many moms are faced with the challenge of keeping their kids entertained during the after-Christmas break. If you’re looking for some creative and crafty activities to keep your little ones busy, look no further! Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  1. Get artsy with some Christmas-themed art projects. Break out the construction paper, glitter, and glue and let your kids’ imaginations run wild. They can make their own Christmas cards, decorations, or even gifts for loved ones.
  2. Get crafty with some DIY decorations. Encourage your kids to use their creativity to make their own decorations for their rooms or the house. They can make paper snowflakes, pinecone wreaths, or even string popcorn and cranberries to make a festive garland.
  3. Get cooking in the kitchen. The after-Christmas break is a great time to get your kids involved in the kitchen. They can help you bake cookies, make hot chocolate, or even try their hand at making a holiday meal. Not only will they have fun, but they’ll also learn valuable cooking skills.
  4. Have a movie marathon. Snuggle up on the couch with some blankets and hot cocoa and enjoy a few of your family’s favorite holiday movies. Or, if your kids are feeling adventurous, let them pick out some new movies to watch and discover some new favorites.
  5. Have a game night. Dust off those board games and have a fun-filled evening of friendly competition. From classic games like Monopoly and Scrabble to newer favorites like Qwirkle and Bananagrams, there’s something for everyone.

If you’re a busy mom and don’t have time to plan and organize all of these activities, don’t worry! Our after-Christmas art camp for children ages 5-10 is the perfect solution. Our experienced instructors will provide a fun and engaging environment where your child can explore their creativity and make new friends. Sign up today and give your child the gift of a memorable and enjoyable after-Christmas break.

Blending Acrylic Paint: 3 Steps to Mastering the Skill

Blending acrylic paint is a great way to add depth to your paintings. You can create seamless transitions between colors and make certain areas stand out more than others. But how do you get started?

Here are 3 easy tips on blending acrylic paint:

1. Use a large brush for large areas and small brushes for small spaces like corners or edges where two colors meet up with each other at their edges; this will create seamless transitions between colors without any harsh lines running through them like a knife would cut through butter!

2. Start by applying one color over another in long strokes, rather than short ones. This will help you build up layers of color without making it look like you’re just spreading around the same amount of paint everywhere on your canvas or paper surface.

3. Work from light to dark, starting with the lighter color in the area where you want your transition to be seamless, then moving on to darker shades as needed until you achieve the look that you want!

4. Work fast!

Don’t overwork it: We know it’s tempting to keep smoothing out your painting until it’s perfect, but if you overwork your painting too much, it’ll start to lose its vibrancy and depth of color.

Practice makes perfect: Blending acrylic paints takes practice! Don’t get discouraged if things don’t turn out right right away—you’ll get there eventually (and probably sooner than later).

How to Make Money Off Your Skills and Hobbies

Side hustles are a great way to earn extra money to provide for your family, but when you’re disabled, you may be limited as to what you can do to generate an income.

If you have a passion and skill for art, you can turn your hobby into a side hustle you enjoy.

Benefits of Side Gigs

One study found that 44% of American adults have side hustles to generate additional income. The main benefit of turning your passion for art into a business opportunity is having the chance to make money while doing something you love. It won’t feel like work if you are doing something you truly enjoy.

Turning your hobby into a side gig allows you to explore your creativity in ways you may not be able to if you had to spend your energy earning money in other ways.

Finally, side gigs have flexible hours. You are free to work your business around your children’s schedules so that you are available to tend to your family’s needs.

You can work as much or as little as you like.

Ways to Find Work

You can’t make money off a side gig if you don’t have clients. Designing an effective marketing campaign is a good way to spread the word about your services, but connecting with people in your community is the best way to find work when you are an artist or painter.

You can attend local events and interact with other artists in the area. You may also pick up a few clients and have the opportunity to interact with them personally.

Another way to find work is to look online. Many people post on social media looking for the services you have to offer. If you can connect with people looking to hire an artist or painter, you can advertise your services after making a personal pitch.

Once you have a few clients, word of mouth will spread about what you have to offer, and
you may not need to look for jobs anymore but instead have potential clients approach you.

Choosing a Business Structure

When you offer any type of service, there are legal ramifications. You must think about having contracts drawn up so that you do not provide service without payment.

You may also want to think about choosing a business structure that provides you with tax benefits.

Forming a limited liability corporation, for example, protects you from legal action while providing you with significant tax breaks to enhance your profits.

Marketing Strategies

Spreading the word about your business is essential for growth. You don’t have to have a huge marketing budget to advertise your artistic talents. Word-of-mouth marketing costs nothing, but people who have purchased your art in the past are likely to recommend you to their friends and family members when they need your services.

Similarly, you can use a social media campaign to target a wide audience with minimal effort. Social media marketing is a cost-efficient way to engage with both new and existing customers. You can create a Facebook ad for free using an online ads maker. After selecting a template, simply add in your own copy, images, and design elements.

Turning your passion for art into a side hustle is a great way to make extra money while doing something you love.

Once you find work, choose a business structure and market your business through social media and word-of-mouth recommendations.
